Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV), is a State University in Indore. DAVV was initially restricted to Indore city but later it was extended to seven tribal districts of Indore area namely, Jhabua, Alirajpur, Dhar, Khargone, Khandwa, Burhanpur and Barwani. DAVV aims to cater the educational needs of the well developed districts of Madhya Pradesh, Indore.

DAVV (Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya) University was established in 1964 in Indore by an Act of Legislature of Madhya Pradesh. Dr. Zakir Hussain, then Vice President of India, was inaugurated the university in 1964 in Indore. The jurisdiction of DAVV university was limited to Indore district only.

In 1988, the university name was 'Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar' introduced by Holkar Maharani of the Maratha Empire and later changed to 'Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya'. The word vishwavidyalaya means university in hindi, thus, the university name called as Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya.

The DAVV university administrative office and primary school campus located at Rabindranath Tagore Marg in Indore. The other Takshashila Campus located at Khandwa Road is an extension campus which is managed by DAVV university. Three school campus activities managed by DAVV university. This university has 300 affiliated colleges in Indore division imparting education at under-graduate and post-graduate levels. DAVV campus has 9000 students and over 3,00,000 (Three Lacks) students in affiliated colleges.

The total DAVV campus spread across 760 acres in which Takshila parisar primary campus holds for academic classes, which spread across 510 acres and Avanti parisar campus spread across 154 acres and Nalanda parisar campus is an administrative office spread across 100 acres. The DAVV University proposed upcoming Medical College and a Hospital located at the Airport Road campus, Indore.
